The Hitcher

There is only one phrase to describe this film and i'm im gonna go with HOLY SMOKES!!!!
The Hitcher is THE best movie i have even seen, i swear, when i finished watching it for the first time i was in such awe that i couldnt speak. The way it captures your attention and makes you want to watch it over and over is amazing.
The Hitcher is a 1986 horror film starring C.Thomas Howell and Rutger Hauer.
A young man, on his way to California, picks up a hitch hiker who turns out to be a murderer. After throwing the killer out of his car, the young man thinks everything is over but its the just the beggining. He is stalked for days, the hitcher framing him for his crimes and turning his life into living hell.
Despite it being called horror, i wouldn't exactly say so. While most horror films focus on the gore, this one focuses more on how the killer torments the young man mentally. Not physically.
The scene that gets me the most is when he first picks up the hitcher and he realises he's a killer. The killer (John Ryder) starts running the blade across the young man's (Jim Hasely) face. Jim asks him what he wants, John replies "I want you to stop me". After threatening him for somewhile, Jim says "Please...I'll do anything". John replies with "say four words". Jim is eger to get rid of John until he finds out john wants him to say "I want to die". "I dont know if i can say think" Jim says. "Sure you can. Repeat after me" John tells him and gets Jim to repeat the words. They're at "to" when Jim realizes John's door isnt fully closed and can be opened without pushing the handle. Instead of repeating the word "die" Jim yells "I DONT WANT TO DIE!" and pushes John out of the car.
Its a truely amazing scene, i've seen it like 50 times since i watched it the first time last week xD
ALSO, since i watched this movie, i've had a new respect for C.Thomas Howell, he's a wonderful, talented actor and i think he just might be my new favourite.
